Young artists wishing to develop their drawing and painting skills, will work from observation while simultaneously encouraging and building artistic voice. We will move towards building a foundation for future studies and practice. This course will meet once a week for 5 weeks.

The one off print. Explore the medium of mono print as a means to making images and developing a series of work/prints. Experiment with materials, subject matter and approach. This course will meet once a week for 5 weeks.

We will travel to various locations near our studio (weather permitting) to develop fun and playful work from observation “in situ” or on location. We will experiment with mixing common and uncommon art materials. This course will meet once a week for 5 weeks.

portfolio preparation for young artists

Develop your portfolio for upcoming college applications or just to get a head start for next year. We will fill in gaps missing from your portfolio or get you moving towards your goals. I have helped students apply and gain acceptance to the top art schools in the country including, Pratt, RISD, Tyler School of Art, Parsons, Otis and SVA. This course will meet once a week for 5 weeks.

draw here now: how to tap into artistic flow

For artists early on their journey looking to enhance their technical skill and experiment with what we like to call “artistic flow.” Students will engage with exercises that build awareness and concentration. One of the hardest things to overcome when working as an artist is the internal criticism and judgement we place on ourselves. This course addresses how to use proven methods for getting you out of your head and into the world around you and your artwork.
We will practice working with our internal experiences in parallel with developing helpful ways of breaking down our visual experience to make it easier to record into a drawn image. Find ways to exploit the limitations of your awareness to enhance your art practice This course will meet once a week for 5 weeks.
